U 102 godine postojanja Prvi put u historiji na naslovnici Voguea manekenka s hidžabom

Somalijsko-američka manekenka Halima Aden je prva žena s hidžabom koja se našla na naslovnici majskog izdanja magazina „New Frontiers“ (Nove granice) koji se objavljuje od 1916. godine uz još osam modela, nakon brojnih kritika zbog neraznovrsnosti.

Uz Halimu na naslovnici stoje i Adut Akech, Radhika Nair, Yoon Young Bae, Faretta, Fran Summers, Vittoria Ceretti, Paloma Elsesser i Selena Forrest.

Podsjećamo, Halima Aden se i prošle godine našla na naslovnici junskog arapskog izdanja poznatog modnog časopisa.

Devetnaestogodišnja Halima Aden ušla je u historiju kao prva manekenka koja je na izboru za miss nosila hidžab i burkini, te kao prvi IMG model koji nosi hidžab, učestvuje na Fashion Weeku itd.

Ova mlada Somalijka došla je sa svojom porodicom iz izbjegličkog kampa iz Kenije sa sedam godina.

Već ranije je rušila predrasude o hidžabu kada je u srednjoj školi proglašena za "kraljicu ljepote".

Sada studira na univerzitetu u St. Cloudu u Minessoti.
